Patrick Roy would play his first 11 seasons in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens. In his first season (1985-86) he would post an .875 save percentage in 47 games played while making the NHL All-Rookie Team. The 1986 playoffs was just as impressive for Roy as he would make 504 saves in 20 games played, a .923 save percentage and a 1.93 goals against average en route to winning his first Conn Smythe Trophy and Stanley Cup. Roy’s performance in the 1985-86 season and postseason earned him the nickname “Saint Patrick” which he would keep throughout the remainder of his career. In 2017, as part of its centennial celebration, the NHL named Patrick Roy to its list of the 100 Greatest NHL Players of all time.
